The goal was to rework our current framework to one that would be more modern and include features users could find in the apps of our competitors.
Goal/Solution
At Punchh I was the Lead Mobile UX Designer my focus was on redesigning our mobile framework. Our design team was not very large so I owned the entire mobile piece of the product. I did user research studies, competitive analysis, wireframes, flow charts, prototypes and the UI design iterations to present for review.
Overview
The Punchh mobile UI, in its simplest form, is a white-labeled app used by hundreds of different restaurants around the country. The framework we have is then customized with the colors and menus of the customer; while a lot of apps are very similar in functionality, they are not one and the same, which, to some degree, presents numerous challenges. Some of which could be how customers receive and redeem rewards from their purchases or how customizable their clients could make their food orders. I found these challenges to be quite interesting and almost fun to "solve". Going into this we knew our mobile framework was not up to par with our competitors it was functional at minimum but didn't add more to the experience, and during the quarantine, with business steadily increasing due to users staying at home and using mobile delivery more than ever before, it was important that our products be up to par with our competitors in both design and functionality.
